Bertha Jones
Bertha = 2+ 5 + 9 + 2+ 8 + 1 = 27 = 2 + 7 = 9
Jones = 1 + 6 + 5 + 5 + 1 = 18 = 1 + 8 = 9
9 + 9 = 18 = 9
Bertha's number is 9 three times over.
Rosalynde Smith
Rosalynde = 9 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 7 + 5 + 4 + 5 = 41 = 4 + 1 = 5
Smith = 1 + 4 + 9 + 2 + 8 = 24 = 2 + 6 = 8
5 + 8 = 13 = 1 + 3 = 4
Which names do I use? My legal name? My go by name? My nicknames? Which one I use most often? The one I feel most comfortable with? Each gives a different number:
Let's take Rosalynde Smith.
If her maiden name in Jones her number before marriage was 5 + 9 = 14 = 5
If she is commonly called Rosie her number is 9 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 5 = 30 = 3
If she hypenates her maiden name and married name her number is 9 + 8 = 17 = 8
So for all her names she has numbers 5 (Rosalynde), 9 (Jones), 8 (Smith), 3 (Rosie), and 8 (Jones-Smith), 5 (Rosalynde Jones), 8 (Rosalynde Smith), 3 (Rosie Jones), 2 (Rosie Smith) 4 (Rosalynde Jones-Smith), 2 (Rosie Jones-Smith), and we haven't even mentioned a middle name!
Adding all her name numbers together = 57 = 12 = 3. Which might be her lucky number.
You can also use your birthdate by adding all the numbers together: October 28, 1918 would be 10 + 10 + 1 = 21 = 3 (or 10 + 28 + 1918 = 1956 = 3). But you share this number with everyone born on your day. You could further add your time of birth and perhaps the GPS latitude and longitude of where you were born to get a really unique number.
All these numbers add up to one thing. Any number can be your lucky number. Pull one out of a hat and that might work just as well.
